Paseos en bici

Cuando tengo un huequito y el tiempo acompaña me encanta salir por la mañana con la bici. Aprovecho tanto para hacer ejercicio como para disfrutar de las vistas del paseo. 

If I have time and the weather is OK, I love to ride my bike.  Not only I exercise a bit but I also get to enjoy the view!!

Aprovechando el precioso día de enero

En Málaga tenemos la suerte de que hasta en enero tenemos días preciosos y soleados como el de hoy. He tenido mucho trajín todo el día así que  he aprovechado el descanso del trabajo, media horita, para darme una vueltecita con la bici del ayuntamiento. Ha estado fenomenal.

We are really lucky in Málaga that even in january we have beautiful sunny days like today. At work, at lunch break that today was half an hour, I took a bicycle (the one the city provided) and went for a ride near my work place. It is being fun and a nice way of taken advantage of this beautiful day.

Anocheciendo

Esta tarde-noche hemos dado un paseito que el ejercicio siempre viene bien. No me puedo quejar con estas vistas!!

This evening I went for a walk because, well, a bit of exercise is always good, but I just cannot complain with this view!!

Día de vacaciones

Últimamente parece que las vacaciones están solo para poder recuperarse del agotamiento acumulado de trabajo y del día a día. En fin después de estar un par de días sin apenas salir hoy hemos estado en Puerto Banus, comiendo y dando una vuelta, haciendo fotos y bueno, disfrutando del día.

Lately when I finally take somedays off work I am so tired by then that I need those days just to take care of myself and recover. After a couple of days staying at home we went to Puerto Banus in Marbella. We had lunch, went for a walk around and just relax and enjoy it.

Días Playeros.

¿Qué hacer en Málaga en verano?  Ir a la playa.  

El sábado pasado estuve dando una vuelta por la playa pero fué para hacer fotos.  Tengo que practicar con una camara refléx que me he autoregalado.  Así por aquí ando aprendiendo de velocidades, diafragmas, isos y como usar los objetivos.  Al principio me lo pensé mucho porque es una inversión importante y porque yo la quería para utilizarla en el modo manual y esto tiene un esfuerzo añadido de salir a hacer fotos cargando con un mamotreto, leer y aprender mucho y además se necesita tiempo.  Pero tengo que decir que de momento (y espero que me dure) estoy encantando y disfrutando de este nuevo hobbie.  Aquí os dejo un par de fotos del otro día. Ni que decir que son las primeras y todavía me queda mucho que aprender.

What to do in Málaga in Summer?  One goes to the beach.

Last Saturday I went near the beach but just to take some pictures.  I have always like taking pictures and looking at photos of other people.  I mainly use the phone camera for almost everything right now because it is easy to use and one always have the phone at hand.  I have also have a digital cannon but lately the truth is that I don't use it really.  Lately I have been thinking about buying a reflex camera.  But I wasn't sure because apart from not being cheap (this I really didn't know at all!!!), it requires some extra effort like you have to learn how to use it (iso, velocity ...etc), one also has to carry around and one needs time to take the photos and then go through them.  Well in the end I bought a Nikon.  I must say I am really happy, I am having lots of fun taking pictures with it.  

Mercadillo (Saturday Market)

Los sábados hay mercadillo en las playas del Palo (Málaga), bueno la verdad es que empieza pasado el arroyo Jaboneros, más o menos delante del Colegio de la Milagrosa.  A pié de playa. Hay de todo:  comida, ropa, plantas ...etc.  Es muy divertido pasear y echar un vistazo.  

On Saturdays there's a market near where I live.  It is just by the sea.  It is kind of nice to be able to go and have a look.  One can find just about everything:  food, plants and flowers, clothes ...etc

Esta mañana (15.03.2016)

Esta mañana había quedado en el centro y que mejor manera de hacer algo de ejercicio que ir andando en lugar de en autobús. La mañana no estaba tan espectacular como otros días pero no ha llovido y tiene también su gracia.

This morning I made plans to have breakfast with a friend. No gym this morning instead I went for a nice walk. The weather was not as good as usually but it hasn't rain and it was quite nice as well.

Un paseo estupendo

Alguna que otra mañana me gusta quedar a desayunar en el centro de Málaga.  Ahora que tengo las mañanas libres es una buena manera de no perder el contacto con mis amigas del trabajo y además me da la oportunidad de ir dando un paseo o en bici y disfrutar de las vistas de Málaga y del buen tiempo que solemos tener.  Todo un lujo. 

Now that I don't work in the mornings I like to meet some of my friends from work (they work in the mornings) in the centre of Málaga (you could call it downtown). It is also a nice opportunity to go for a walk or with the bike and enjoy the weather and the view.  

Venta de Alfarnate

La Venta de Alfarnate es un restaurante que está a la entrada del pueblo de Alfarnate (Málaga).  Es también la excusa ideal para un sábado o un domingo.  Me encanta el paisaje de la carretera que lleva a Alfarnate.  Es agreste pero tiene su encanto. 

La Venta por supuesto está muy bien y lo que es más importante se come fenomenal.  Lo que más nos gusta:  las migas.  No hay nada más tradicional y más rico.  De niños hemos ido mucho con mis padres y ya hacía tiempo que no ibamos.  Pero este año hemos vuelto y volveremos.



Venta de Alfarnate is a restaurant outside a village called Alfarnate.  Alfarnate is a village up in the montains in Málaga.  Venta de Alfarnate is the excuse to visit the country and the montains that surround Málaga and have a nice day.  I love the road that lead to this place becasue the views are something else.   I must say that the restaurant is also very good.  It serves traditional food from Málaga. Everything they served are delicious.  We used to go a lot when we were kids and this winter we decided to go again and I wanted to see this part of Málaga again so as I said is a very good excuse for a trip on a Saturday or a Sunday. 

Semana Santa 2015

Creo que ha sido la Semana Santa que más he salido en los últimos años.  En principio ha ayudado el que he trabajado un par de horas por las tardes y justo cuando he salido del trabajo ya había alguna que otra procesión por la calle.  Además ha hecho muy buen tiempo.  Y luego he tenido algún día de vacaciones lo cual tampoco ha estado nada mal. 

Aquí os dejo algunas fotos de estos días pasados. 



En Málaga tenemos procesiones desde el Domingo de Ramos hasta el Viernes Santo.  Varias cofradías cada día sacan sus tronos a la calle, normalmente hay un trono con el Cristo y otro con la Virgen.  Antes de cada trono van los nazarenos, y cada cofradía lleva túnicas de colores distintos.  También van bandas de música que este año nos han encantado.

Hay un recorrido oficial por donde hay sillas y tribunas desde donde ver las procesiones.  Nosotros lo probamos un año y aunque es cómodo nos gusta más verla desde la calle e ir buscando las procesiones de una calle a otra.

Es muy espectacular ver algunas de las procesiones. Y es una tradición muy arraigada sobretodo en Andalucía. Participan tanto adultos como niños.

La Estrella, la Paloma, Mena, los Viñeros, el Cautivo, el Rocío .... son los nombres de algunas cofradías.

Algo que me encanta es el paso que llevan los tronos.  El paso es la manera en la que se mueve el trono.  A veces es como si el Cristo o la Virgen estuvieran caminando.

Las iglesias se preparan unos días antes y en ellas se pueden ver los tronos de cerca.

Algo muy importante es el tiempo.  Este año hemos tenido muchísima suerte porque ha hecho muy bueno durante toda la semana y no ha llovido ningún día.  Si llueve no hay procesiones. 

Well this is Easter in Málaga.  We called it Semana Santa.  From Sunday to Friday there are many "procesiones" each day.  They started around 6 p.m and finished late at night.  It is a very old tradition and people like to go to the streets to see them and some to participated in them as "nazarenos" (the ones with the hood) or loading the "tronos" with the Christ or the Virgins.  It is something really impresive sometimes.  Some of the "tronos" are really big.  There are also bands playing music.  This year they were really good.  There are also military parades accompanying the images of a Christ or a Virgin, the "legionarios" soldiers are really very famous and the parade on Thursday it is probably one of the biggest thing in the week. The weather is very important because if it rained there are no "procesiones" at all.  The images are some of them really old and they could suffer damage.  This year we were really lucky because it was really nice, warm and sunny.  It was a wonderful week.
