"Vampire Interruptus" de Lyndsay Sands es el noveno libro de su serie de vampiros Argeneneau y es un poco la continuación del anterior libro  "Vampires are forever" y que leí el mes pasado.  Como el resto de los libros de esta serie son libros para pasar un buen rato sin complicaciones.

"La Canción de los Maories" de Sarah Lark es un poco la continuación de "El Pais de la Nube Blanca".  En esta ocasión el libro va de las aventuras de dos de las nietas de las protagonistas del primer libro.  A pesar de ser libros "gordos" se leen con mucha facilidad y entretienen mucho.  Me ha gustado y no me cabe duda de que seguiré con el siguiente de Sarah Lark. 

"Grave Peril" es el tercer libro de la serie Harry Dresden de Jim Butcher.  Es un libro con mucha acción, a Harry Dresden el protagonista, le pasa de todo. Me gustan mucho también el resto de los personajes que aparecen en el libro, Michael y su espada, el hada madrina de Harry, Bob...  

"Awakened" de PC Cast es el octavo libro de su serie "House of Night".  Empecé a leer esta serie para adolescentes hace unos años.  Los primeros libros estaban muy bien pero después de leer "Burned" dejé la serie.  No sé si es que estoy un poco mayor para estos libros o qué pero en fín que como hay mucho donde elegír pues eso hice un par de intentos de leer "Awakened" y se quedaron en eso en intentos.  Hace una semana volvi a darle una oportunidad porque creo que han salido un par de libros más desde entonces y bueno por ver si mejoraba algo.  No, para mí no ha mejorado ha empeorado.  La historia bastante aburrida y los personajes un poco pesados también y luego lo peor para mi gusto es que parece que el libro viene patrocinado, que si True Blood, que si Glee, y luego menciona los nombres de otras autoras de libros que justamente no son para adolescentes, vaya los primeros libros de Anita Blake bueno pero a partir del decimo libro no creo que sean libros para niñas de 15 o 16 años.  De todas maneras, lo dicho lo mismo soy yo porque la serie es para adolescentes y yo tengo unos "pocos" de años más.

"Two Graves" es el último libro de Douglas Preston y Lincoln Child.  Tenía muchas ganas de leerlo pero a la vez algo de miedo porque las historias de Pendergast me encantan y el último libro no estuvo muy allá, vamos tanto es así, que no recuerdo muy bien ni de que iba.  Me ha gustado mucho.  Me dan ganas de releer todos los libros de Pendergast de nuevo.  Es un poco como volver a los primeros libros de la serie.  Vaya, que me he quedado con ganas de más, a ver para cuando es el siguiente libro.

My favorite book this month was "Two Graves" by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.  It was fantastic to see Pendergast and the rest of the characters again.  Last book was not so good (I cannot remember well what it was about) and I was kind of afraid of this book because this series is one of my favorite.   But I like it, I like it a lot, it reminds me of the first books of Pendergast. 

I like and enjoyed reading "Vampire Interruptus" by Lyndsay Sands, "Grave Peril" by Jim Butcher and "La Canción de los Maories" by Sarah Lark (I am sorry because I don't know if it is translated into English).  They were very nice reads.  It is always fun and nice to read Lyndsay Sands Argeneau.  Lots of action going on in Harry Dresden book by Jim Butcher.  The book by Sarah Lark is the second one I read and it was good to.  This books are quite big but they are really easy to read and I also enjoy reading about New Zealand, it is really interesting.

"Awakened" by PC Cast is the book I didn't like.  I stopped reading this series (House of Night) after "Burned" was published but decided to give it another chance.  No, it didn't get any better for me it got worse.  Probably I am a bit old for the books as they are for teenagers but still... what I didn't like at all was reading inbetween the story things that felt like advertisement, "True Blood" this, "Glee" that and then there is some mention of Anita Blake and other authors that I don't think they are appropriate for teenager.  The language in the book was also a bit too much, I know how teenagers talk but this is, as I say, too much.

Los libros que terminé de leer en el mes de enero fueron estos dos:

Los dos los he leído en inglés y no sé si están traducidos al español.

En Navidades me apetecía leer un libro navideño.  Lo intenté con "The Bridge" en el mes de diciembre pero no me gustó mucho.  Así que lo volví a intentar con Debbie Macomber ya que pensé que no iba a tener problemas con ella.  Y así ha sido.  El libro "A season of angels" es un buen libro para leer en navidad.  Es muy agradable de leer y las historias son muy bonitas.  Este creo que es el primero de la colección de angeles que tiene.  Son tres angeles y cada una tiene un "problema" que resolver.  Como digo muy navideño.

Debido a qué a finales de diciembre murió mi madre, no he tenido cuerpo ni ganas de leer nada complicado y he buscado algo ligero, agradable e incluso divertido.  Y que mejor que la serie de los Argeneau de Lyndsay Sands.  "Vampires are forever", el octavo libro que lee de esta serie, ha sido justo lo que andaba buscando.  Cada vez me gusta más esta serie de vampiros.  Es divertida, romántica y con un puntito de misterio.  Muy bien.

This last Christams I wanted to read a Christmas story.  I tried with "The Bridge" in December but I found it quite boring.  Next I tried with Debbie Macomber.  I thought it couldn't go wrong with her.  And I was right.  "A season of Christmas" is the first book in her "angels"series and it is really good for Christmas.  I like it a lot and it was fun to read about the three angels. I have no doubt that I will continue reading this series.

This Christmas my mother passed away and I didn't feel like reading anything too serious or complicate.  I wanted something light, nice and fun.  And what better that one of Lyndsay Sands Argeneau's books.  So I read "Vampires are forever" and I loved it. Just what I was looking for in a book at that moment.  I love these books they are a lot of fun to read, there's romance and even a bit of mistery.  Really good.

• "Fourth grave beneath my feet" de Darynda Jones
• "Fool Moon" de Jim Butcher
• "The Bridge" de Karen Kingsbury

"Fourth grave beneath my feet" es el cuarto libro de la serie Charley Davidson de Darynda Jones que he leído.  Es un libro muy entretenido de leer. La protagonista recuerda mucho a Stephanie Plum de Janet Evanovich pero aún así la serie merece la pena leerla porque como digo el libro es muy entretenido.  Tengo muchas ganas de leer el próximo libro.

"Fool Moon" de Jim Butcher es el segundo libro que leo de su serie Harry Dresden.  Estos libros siempre me cuestan un poquito empezarlos pero luego ya no puedo parar de leerlos.  Estoy pensando en estos momentos que es como Harry Potter (por lo de la magia) pero para adultos.  Mucha acción y también misterio ya que siempre hay algo que tiene que investigar y descubrir.  Lo dicho muy recomendable.

Tenía muchas ganas de leer "The Bridge" de Karen Kingsbury porque quería leer algo navideño.  Había visto en Amazon que le daban muy buena puntuación y por fín lo leí.  No me ha gustado mucho.  Me ha resultado muy aburrido y ni la historia ni los protagonistas me han dicho mucho y la historia de amor tampoco.  Además el libro es más bien una historia corta y no una novela porque son muy poquitas páginas.  De todas maneras tengo que decir que el libro no es malo es simplemente que no es para mí.  Es una cuestión de gustos.

These three are the books I have read in December.

I did like a lot "Fourth grave beneath my feet" by Darynda Jones.  Even though Charley Davidson (the main character) reminds me a lot to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum I enjoyed reading the story and I will continue reading the series. 

"Fool Moon" by Jim Butcher is the second book of his Harry Dresden series.  I always have a bit of trouble when I start reading these books but after a few pages I cannot stop reading them because I can find in the books the things I like:  some mistery, lots of action and a part of supernatural.  I was thinking right now that Harry Dresden reminds me of Harry Potter but for adults.  No doubt I will continue reading the series.

I was looking forward to reading "The Bridge" by Karen Kingsbury because I wanted to read a Christmas story.  I didn't like it much.  First I think is a novella and not a book because it is just too short and then I couldn't care less about the characters or their love story because it wasn't very interesting.

• Bitter Blood de Rachel Caine

El único libro que he sido capaz de terminar durante noviembre fué Bitter Blood de Rachel Caine.  Normalmente suelo leer por la noche antes de dormir pero últimamente estoy tan cansada que sólo soy capaz de leer un par de páginas antes de apagar la luz.

Bitter Blood es de la serie de Vampiros de Morganville de Rachel Caine.  No ha estado mal y me ha resultado fácil de leer.  La historia es entretenida y no he tenido tantos problemas como con los dos libros anteriores.  La razón creo que es principalmente porque a estas alturas no esperaba mucho y además no tengo en estos momentos ningún cariño especial a los protagonistas y por tanto me daba un poco igual lo que les pasara.  Con todo casi seguro que leeré el siguiente libro de la serie.

 

The only book I was able to finish in November was Bitter Club by Rachel Caine.  I usually read at night before going to sleep but lately I am so tired that I can only read a couple of pages.

Bitter Club is from the Morganville Vampires series.  I cannot remember if it is book twelve or thirteen.  It was OK and I didn't have any trouble reading it as I had with the previous two books.  Basically I think that at this point I didn't expect much (because I didn't like the last two books of the series) and I don't have any love for the main characters so I just don't mind what happens to them.  Anyway the story was good and I enjoyed it.  I will probably read the next book of this series.

"Three for the dough" de Janet Evanovich es el tercer libro de su serie de Stephanie Plum.  Como ya he comentado en otras ocasiones son libros muy entretenidos y divertidos de leer.  Este ha tenido un par de escenas donde me he reído mucho.  Sin lugar a duda seguiré leyendo esta serie.

En el aeropuerto de Málaga esperando el avión para Suiza me pasé por la librería y vi que tenían el libro de Daniel Glattauer "Contra el viento del norte". Había visto en un par de sitios que lo recomendaban y como no llevaba nada para el avión decidí comprarlo.  Está bien, como yo digo no es para tirar cohetes pero es agradable de leer.  Se lee bastante rápido.  Emmi y Leo, los protagonistas, se conocen a través de internet y el libro es la charla que mantienen a través de los e-mails.  Acabo de empezar a leer la continuación de este libro "Cada siete olas".

"Rapture" de J.R Ward ha sido mi favorito del mes.  Fué empezar a leerlo y no poder parar de leer.  Me ha gustado mucho, y además es que me ha gustado todo el libro que es algo un poco raro porque cuando uno lee una serie siempre suele haber partes del libro que te gustan más o otras partes que no hacen tanta gracia pero que son necesarias para la historia.  Y como siempre hay de todo mucha acción, intriga y romance.  Creo que es el cuarto de su serie de ángeles caídos.

This three are the books I have read in October.  My favorite was "Rapture" by J.R. Ward. I think is the fourth book in the Fallen Angels series.  I couldn't put the book down. Lot of action and romance as always.  I really enjoyed reading every bit of it.  Worst part is having to wait a whole year for next book.

I continued reading Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series.  This month I read the third book "Three for the dough" which as always was really fun to read. 

In Málaga Airport I bought Daniel Glattauer "Contra el viento del norte".  I had nothing to read on my way to Switzerland to see my brother and I saw this book and I had read some good reviews about it and decided to give it a chance.  Sorry because I don't know if it is translated into English.  I think the author is German.  This book is a fast read.  A man (Leo) and a women (Emmi) meet through e-mail and the book is the collection of those e-mails between the two of them.  I didn't find the book the best of the best but it was a nice read and I must say that I have recently started the continuation of this book "Cada siete olas".

Los libros que he leído durante el mes de Septiembre fueron:

• The Accidental Vampire de Lynsay Sands
• La Conjura de Cortés de Matilde Asensi
• Storm Front de Jim Butcher

"The Accidental Vampire" es, creo, el 7º libro de su serie "Argeneau".  Son libros romanticos pero muy entretenidos y divertidos.  Están muy bien para pasar un buen rato sin complicaciones.

Llevaba un par de años esperando el tercer libro de Matilde Asensi de la triología "Martín Ojo de Plata".  Los dos primeros me encantaron.  Tanto "En tierra firme" como "Venganza en Sevilla" están muy bien escritos, llenos de aventuras e historia.  "La Conjura de Cortés" al igual que los anteriores viene plagada de nuevas aventuras para Martín Ojo de Plata y todos sus hombres.  Muy entretenido y lectura obligada si se ha leído los anteriores.

El primer libro de la serie Dresden Files "Storm Front" de Jim Butcher lo he empezado a leer en un par de ocasiones pero no había logrado pasar de las primeras páginas.  Leyendo en uno de los foros que merecía la pena darle una oportunidad porque empecé de nuevo el libro y la verdad es que me ha gustado mucho y ya tengo en mente leer el segundo en cuanto pueda.  Harry Dresden, el protagonista, es un brujo que tendrá que resolver dos casos, uno de la policía y otro de una cliente.  Hay, como no puede ser de otra manera, mucha fantasía en el libro, con demonios, hechizos ...etc.  Está entre libro policiaco y de fantasía.  Muy entretenido.

"The Accidental Vampire" by Lynsay Sands is the 7th book in her "Argeneau" Series and as always it is a lot of fun to read.  I like these books because they are light and nice reads and usually very funny. 

Matilde Asensi is a Spanish author.  "La Conjura de Cortés" is the third book in her triology "Martin Ojo de Plata".  I don't know if this triology has been translated into English.  I like it a lot.  Lots of adventures and a bit of history in it.  I read the first two books a few years ago and I was really looking forward to reading this last book. 

Before Summer I tried reading Jim Butcher Dresden Files "Storm Front" a few times but couldn't pass through the first pages.  A few weeks back I read in Charlaine Harris' website someone saying it was worth to give a it a try.  And I tried again and I really like it this time.  As soon as I can I am going to read second book of the Dresden Files.

• La sombra de la Sirena de Camilla Läckberg
• Drums of Autumn de Diana Gabaldon

Los dos libros me han gustado mucho. 

De Camilla Läckberg llevo leídos todos los libros que han traducido en español y que es una misma serie y hasta la fecha me han gustado todos.  Son novelas policiacas y es un género que me gusta mucho.  La sombra de la sirena me ha gustado mucho porque mantiene el interés hasta al final y nos volvemos a visitar a los protagonistas de la serie. 

Y por fín la semana pasada tuve tiempo de sobra y terminé el cuarto libro de la serie Outlander (Forastera) de Diana Gabaldon:  Drums of Autumn.  Tengo que ver como lo han traducido en español porque yo lo he leído en inglés.  Es un libro gordísimo y larguísimo pero es increible lo que he disfrutado con la historia y siguiendo a Jamie, a Claire y al resto de la familia.  Es como siempre digo como leer unos tres o cuatro libros en lugar de uno, es como ver la temporada completa de una serie de tv.  Pasan tantas cosas durante todo el libro...  Hay aventuras, hay piratas, hay indios, hay romance, me he reído mucho, me he puesto nerviosa viendo que es lo que iba a pasar...  en fín, como digo, me lo he pasado en grande con el libro.  Lo malo de estos libros es que como son tan gordos tengo que espaciarlos entre uno y otro porque sino no me daría tiempo a leer nada más.  Pero vaya, la verdad, es que ya tengo ganas ir a por el siguiente.

La sombra de la Sirena by Camilla Läckberg is the sixth book that has been translated in Spanish.  I've looked for the English name of the book but I couldn't find it.  So far I have read all her books (translated in Spanish) of the Fjällbacka series and I like all of them.  I like this book a lot as well.  And it is always nice to see the characters  (Erica and Patrick and the rest) of the series again. 

One of the things I wanted to do in my holidays was to finish Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon.  Finally I had time to relax and read as much as I wanted and enjoy this book.  I am always surprise at Diana Gabaldon books.  They are big books.  It is like reading 3 or 4 normal books or like watching a whole season of a tv-show.  But what amazes me most is that I enjoyed the book a lot from the first page to the last.  There are so much in the book.  I had laughed, I had been at edge of what could happen next, there are lots of adventures, romance ...etc.  And of course the best part is seen the characters of Jamie, Claire and the rest of the family again.  I am looking forward to reading the next book but it will have to wait because as I said before, they are so big, that if I start the next I won't have time to read anything else.

Estos son los libros que he leído y terminado este mes de julio:

Once Burned de Jeaniene Frost
Size 12 and ready to rock de Meg Cabot
The Forgotten Garden de Kate Morton

Once Burned de Jeaniene Frost es el que me ha gustado más de los tres.  He disfrutado mucho leyendo el libro. Lo empecé un sábado y el domingo por la tarde ya lo había terminado porque no había manera de parar de leer el libro. Para mi gusto tiene un poco de todo.  Es "spin-off" de su saga de vampiros de Bones y Cath.  En este libro los protagonistas son Leila y Vlad.  Ya he visto que hay una continuación del libro que sale el año que viene en Marzo.  Sí, me ha gustado tanto que ya tengo apuntada la fecha en qué saldrá el siguiente libro.  Jeaniene Frost es una de mis autoras favoritas sé que con sus libros desde luego voy seguro a pasar un buen rato y esto me encanta.

12 Size and ready to rock de Meg Cabot es el cuarto libro de su serie de Heather Wells.  Estos fueron de los primeros libros de Meg Cabot que leí y me encantaron.  Con los tres primeros me reí muchísimo ya que son superdivertidos.  Tienen también un punto de misterio ya que por lo general hay algún asesinato y más o menos tienen que resolverlo.  Este cuarto libro no es tan divertido como los tres primeros con los que como digo me reí mucho pero sigue estando muy entretenido y la verdad es que me ha gustado mucho. 

The Forgotten Garden (El Jardín Olvidado) de Kate Morton acabo de terminarlo.  Lo empecé el sábado de este fin de semana pasado, por leer algo distinto de lo que estoy leyendo últimamente, pero cuando llevaba unas 80-100 páginas ya ví que no es mi tipo de libro.  No me ha hecho mucha ilusión y de hecho he tenido más o menos que obligarme a terminar el libro lo más rápido que he podido porque no me gusta dejar libros a medias.  Cuando leí de que iba el libro pensé que podía estar bien pero cuando empecé a leerlo me desilusionó bastante.  El libro además tiene como un misterio que yo más o menos a mitad del libro ya sabía como iba a acabar.  Así que cuando llego el final no hubo muchas sorpresas.  Luego además la historia es un poco oscura, no muy alegre que digamos y probablemente no sea una lectura recomendada para el verano que apetece siempre algo más ligero y divertido.  A lo mejor para invierno no está tan mal.  En fín me dió un poco de corage cuando estaba en las 100 primeras páginas del libro porque tengo tanto por leer y tan poco tiempo en general que me fastidia un poco perder el tiempo en un libro así.  Pero en fín que le vamos a hacer, ya lo he leído y terminado.

Sigo leyendo el de Diana Gabaldon "Drums of Autum".  Me está gustando mucho pero son libros tan largos que de vez en cuando me gusta los fines de semana, cuando tengo algo más de tiempo, intercalar otros como los que he leído durante julio.

Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost has been my favorite book this last month.  I had a lot of fun reading the adventures of Vlad and Leila and I am already looking forward to their next book.  I started a saturday and next day I finished it.  I coudn't stop reading it.  This is kind of a "spin-off" of her Bones and Cath series. It is a very nice reading for summer. 

Size 12 and ready to rock by Meg Cabot is the fourth book in her Heather Wells series.  I read the first books a few years ago and I laughed so much with them !! They were really a lot of fun.  This is not as funny as the previous book but is still fun to read and I had a nice time. 

I just finished the Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton.  I started this book because it looks that it could be interesting and because I wanted to read something else, different from what I am lately reading.  When I was between page 80-100 I already saw I wasn't going to enjoy reading it as much as I thought.  I just don't know if it is the way the story is divided or if the story is just to dark for summer.  There is also a mistery, the central point of the story, but by the middle of the book I already knew what it was and any way at that point I couldn't care much about the story or the characters or any other thing.  All I wanted to do is finish the book and move to the next one.  I just don't have as much time as I would like for reading and for doing many things I want to do and I don't like wasting my time in a book like this but I know sometimes just happens.  Well, I read it and most important finished it so now I could move on to the next book. 

I am still reading and enjoying Drums of Autum by Diana Gabaldon but her books are so big that I like to read something else while reading it.  Let's see if I can finish it this month.

Libros leídos este mes: Mayo y Junio, 2012.

Los libros que he leído en Mayo y Junio son:

• Two for the dough de Janet Evanovich
• Black Dawn de Rachel Caine
• Underworld de Meg Cabot

No, este año definitivamente no estoy leyendo mucho.  La culpa:  el crochet, el punto y el punto de cruz.

Los tres libros son continuaciones de otros libros. 

Two for the dough es el segundo libro de la serie de Stephanie Plum de Janet Evanovich.  Me está gustando mucho esta serie.  Es muy divertida.  El mejor personaje de este libro sin duda es la abuela con la que me he reido mucho.  Creo que hay una o dos películas de esta serie pero yo creo que como los libros no hay nada.

Black Dawn, no recuerdo si es el décimo o décimo primer libro de la serie de vampiros Morganville de Rachel Caine.  Este libro no ha estado mal del todo pero no me ha gustado tanto como los primero libros de la serie.  No sé si es porque es una serie para adolescentes y yo ya estoy un poco crecidita o qué, pero la verdad es aunque no podía parar de leer el libro ha habido un par de cosas que no me han hecho mucha ilusión en este libro y cuando he terminado de leerle no sabía que pensar, no sabía si me había gustado el libro o no.  Estoy pensando que todavía no sé.  En fín, la verdad es que no me cabe duda de que leeré el próximo libro de la serie que creo que se publica en octubre o noviembre.

Underworld de Meg Cabot es el único libro que terminado en Junio.  Es la continuación la triología que empezó con Abandon.  Meg Cabot es una de mis escritoras favoritas y en general me gusta casi todo lo que escribe, me resulta muy divertida las historias que cuenta.  Como no publica mucho para adultos leo también casi todo lo que publica para adolescentes y Underworld es parte de una triología para adolescentes.  Lo único malo es que hay que esperar otro año para la tercera y ultima parte. 

This year I am not reading much.  I usually read at night before going to bed but this year I am doing crochet or cross-stitch some nights instead of reading.

In May I read Two for the dougn by Janet Evanovich and Black Dawn by Rachel Caine. 

I had a really good time with the second book in Stephanie Plum series, Two for the dough.  My favorite character of this book is Stephanie grandmother.  I laughed a lot with her.  It is nice reading this king of books, they are fun to read, lots of actions and I like all the characters in the book.

I still don't know if I liked Black Dawn by Rachel Caine.  It is the 10th or 11th book in the Morganville series.  I didn't like as much as the first books because there were a few things I didn't quite agree with but again it could be that this series is for teenagers and maybe I am a bit older for it.  I just don't know.  It is true that once I started the book I couldn't stop reading until I finished it but once I finished as I said before, I didn't know what to think about it.

In June I only finished reading Underworld by Meg Cabot and I like it a lot.  It is the second part in the Abandon triology.  Meg Cabot is one of my favorite writers. I think I read most of her books except for the ones for children and some Patricia Cabot I cannot find published.  The rest I have read all of them.  As I said I liked this book and the only problem is that I have to wait another year for the next book.

Este año en general no estoy leyendo mucho.  Parte de la culpa es del crochet y las labores ya que mi hora de lectura suele ser por la noche antes de acostarme y más de un día y de dos me estoy quedando hasta tarde con alguna labor en lugar de con un libro.  La excepción ha sido Lover Reborn de J.R.Ward.  Lover Reborn es el décimo libro de la saga BDB (Blood Dagger Brotherhood) de J.R.Ward.  Es desde hace un par de años una de mis sagas favoritas.  Un año esperando este libro y cuando lo empecé no fui capaz de dejarlo hasta que lo terminé.  Nada de crochet, nada de punto, nada de punto de cruz y nada de tele hasta que terminé el libro.  Me ha encantado y he disfrutado muchísimo leyéndolo.  Para mí lo peor de estos libro son sus portadas, menos mal que tengo el libro electrónico, y que hay que esperar un año completo para el próximo libro de la saga. 

311 Pelican Court de Debbie Macomber es el tercer libro de su serie Cedar Court.  Como he comentado en otras ocasiones son libros sencillos y muy agradables de leer.  Poco a pocos vamos conociendo y siguiendo la historia de los distintos personajes-habitantes de Cedar Court. 

This year I am not reading as much as I used to.  I usually read at night before going to bed but this year I am doing some crochet or cross-point or whatever before going to bed instead of reading a book.   Well, except with Lover Reborn by JR Ward.  One long year waiting for this book and once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down until I finished it.  I loved it. I love the whole story, good guys, bad guys, the romance …etc.  And it was wonderful to see the brothers again.  Lover Reborn is the tenth book in the Blood Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward.  The worst thing of this books for me are the covers of the books (thanks for the e-book reader that I don’t see them) and the fact that one has to wait another whole year to read the next.

311 Pelican Court by Debbie Macomber is the Cedar Cove third book.  It is very nice to read this type of book from time to time.  No complication whatsoever, just the story of a community, Cedar Cove.

Los libros que he terminado este mes son:

• “Ocho” de Katherine Neville
• “Third Grave Right Ahead” de Darynda Jones
• “Voyager” de Diana Gabaldon

“Ocho” de Katherine Neville ha sido durante un par de años el libro que me he llevado a la playa y el de los viajes.  En este último viaje por fin lo terminé.  En su tiempo tuvo mucho éxito y pensé que iba a gustarme más la historia pero la verdad es que me ha resultado aburrida(demasiado ajedrez) y también anticuada porque la historia se desarrolla en los años 1970 y sí, se nota el paso del tiempo.   

Third Grave Right Ahead de Darynda Jones es el tercer libro de su serie que tiene como protagonista a Charley Davidson.  Al principio estuve a punto de dejar el libro porque me parecía algo repetitivo después de los otros dos anteriores.  Miré en Amazon las opiniones de otros lectores que habían tenido el mismo problema que yo y que decían que la historia mejoraba y por tanto le daban muy buena puntuación.  Por ello decidí darle una segunda oportunidad.  Al final me ha gustado mucho.  Está muy entretenido y divertido y con mucha acción como siempre.  Ya estoy esperando el siguiente que sale en octubre.

“Voyager” (“Viajera” en la versión española) de Diana Gabaldon es el tercer libro de su serie Outlander (forastera). Este libro está catalogado como novela histórica romántica o algo así. Leer un libro de esta serie es como leer tres o cuatro libros en uno.  Son libros muy largos, este en edición de bolsillo tiene más de 1000 páginas.  Me ocurre con estos libros que las primeras 50 páginas me resultan algo pesadas y me cuesta conectar con la historia pero después el resto del libro siempre engancha muchísimo y me quedo con ganas de leer más.  Me encantan los personales centrales:  Claire y por supuesto Jamie.  La historia tiene un sinfín de  aventuras y también de romance, y nunca se sabe que va a pasar.  La historia da muchísimas vueltas desde el inicio del libro hasta el final.  Seguiré sin ninguna duda leyendo esta serie.

“Eight” by Katherine Neville has been the book to take to the beach in the summer and for travelling.  I think it’s been two years since I started this book.  It was very successful sometime ago and I thought I was going to like this book.  Well, if you take two years to finish a book then it is clear I didn’t find it that interesting.  It wasn’t bad either because then I wouldn’t have finished it, but too much chess.

“Third Grave Right Ahead” is the third book by Darynda Jones in the Charley Davidson series.  I was going to stop reading the book in the first part of the book.  I thought the story was a repetition of the first two books and nothing was happening.  I went to Amazon and read that some people have had the same problem but they said the book got better.  So I decided to give it another chance.  And it was true, the book got much much better and in the end I like it a lot.  I am already looking forward to reading the fourth book that will come out in October.

Reading a book by Diana Gabaldon is like reading three or four books in one.  “Voyager” is the third book of her “Outlander” series and as the rest of her books it is a long book, more than a thousand pages.  I always have the same problem with this series, it takes me forever to read the first 50 -100 pages, but after that I can not stop reading the books.  There are lots of adventures and romance, and one never knows what is going to happen next.  I love the main characters of this series:  Claire and Jamie.  I will definitely continue reading this series.

El título engaña ya que el verdadero título sería "el libro que he leído este mes", porque sólo he terminado un libro de los que estaba leyendo.

• Fatal Remedies (El Peor Remedio) de Donna Leon.

“Fatal Remedies” (“El Peor Remedio” en español) es el octavo libro de la serie del Comisario Brunetti de Donna Leon.  No me ha gustado tanto como otros libros que he leído de la misma serie.  La razón es que en la primera mitad de la historia yo no estaba de acuerdo con la actitud ni manera de actuar de uno de sus protagonistas ni de lo que de ella se deriva y claro esto siempre desluce bastante ya que la historia ya no se disfruta igual y puede resultar algo pesada.  Pero bueno, hay que decir que ésta es una serie muy larga, creo que tiene unos 20 libros, y todos no me van a gustar por igual.

Aunque no los he terminado, estoy leyendo también “Voyager” de Diana Gabaldon, por ahora me está gustando aunque hay que decir que el libro es larguísimo y que todavía voy sólo por la mitad.  También estoy leyendo el tercero de Darynda Jones que ya os comentaré.

Donna Leon 8th Brunetti book “Fatal Remedies” is the only book I had finished this month.  I didn’t like as much as the others because I didn’t agree with the point of view of one the characters at the beginning of the book and it annoyed me a lot until the second part of the story.  So in the end it is not a book that I particularly enjoyed.  I do understand though that this is ok this being a long serie with 20 books and I know I am going to find books that I like better than others.

I am currently reading at the same time:  Diana Gabaldon “Voyager” which I am enjoying a lot, although I am only in the middle of the story, and Darynda Jone’s third book.

Los libros que he leído durante este mes fueron:

• En el País de la Nube Blanca de Sarah Lark
• 204 Rosewood Lane de Debbie Macomber
• One for the Money de Janet Evanovich

En el País de la Nube Blanca de Sarah Lark fué un libro que cambié a principios del mes de Octubre por otro que había comprado y que me pareció un horror.  No creí que fuera a cambiar un libro por otro pero la verdad es que cuando aparecí con el libro que quería cambiar no me pusieron ninguna pega y fueron superamables.  Lo cambién por este que me había dado muy buena impresión.  Me ha encantado.  Me ha gustado muchísimo las historias de las dos protagonistas y sus aventuras en Nueva Zelanda.  El libro es bastante largo ya que tiene unas setecientas y pico páginas, pero se lee bastante rápido y una vez que empecé a leerlo me fué muy difícil parar.  La traducción es verdad que no es muy buena, no sé que diccionario ha empleado pero creo que uno muy antiguo.  La culpa de esto es por supuesto de la editorial española.  Me apuesto a que nadie de esa editorial se ha leído el libro ya que de lo contrario hubiesen corregido los problemas de traducción que el libro tiene.  Yo creo que he comprado la octaba edición o algo así, creo que han tenído tiempo más que suficiente para volver a editar el libro y corregir errores.  A parte de esto, el libro como he comentado me ha gustado mucho y estaré pendiente para la continuación o segundo libro que creo que saldrá este año.

A finales del 2011 leí el primer libro de la saga Cedar Cove de Debbie Macomber.  La semana pasada me apetecía leer el segundo libro, 204 Rosewood Lane.  Me ha gustado mucho también.  Son libros muy fáciles de leer y muy agradables. 

Este fin de semana empecé y terminé One for the Money de Janet Evanovich.  Es el primer libro de la serie de Stephanie Plum.  Había leído muy buenas críticas en Amazon y tenía ganas de leer uno de ella.  No me ha defraudado.  El libro se lee muy rápido, es divertido y muy entretenido. 

These month I read these three books. 

Sarah Lark is a German author and this is her first book translated to Spanish.  I don't think it has been traslating to English yet but I think it will be translated soon enough because it has been a success.  I like this book a lot.  The main protagonists are two women who decide to emigrate to New Zealand to start a new life.  The book is a long book, almost eight hundred pages but it doesn't take long to read because once I started the book I couldn't read fast enough to see what happened next.  The only problem with this book is the Spanish translation, I don't know which dictionary the translator used but it must have been a really old one.  I knew of this problem because I have read some reviews of this book.  What I think is that no one in the editorial company have read them because by now this problem should have been solved as I bought (I think) the eighth edition of this book.

204 Rosewood Lane is the second book in Cedar Cove series by Debbie Macomber.  I like reading this kind of books.  They are not complicate just good and nice reads.  I am trying to convince my sister to read them.  She is superfan of Rosamund Pilcher's book and I think she would like this type of books as well.

One for the Money by Janet Evanovich is the first book of her Stephanie Plum series.  I have been reading the reviews of this book and I want to try them.  I enjoy this book a lot.  It's funny, there's a bit of mistery and lots of action as well.  I like Stephanie Plum family as well, it reminds me of families here in Spain, and I love her grandma, she is a lot of fun.  I recommend it and I will continue reading the series.

En general casi todos me han gustado pero creo que el que más ha sido Blue Sword de Robin Mckinley porque fue una sorpresa.  Mas o menos con el resto de autores y series sé lo que esperar pero este libro fué una auténtica sorpresa.  Hace un año que lo leí y todavía tengo muy buenos recuerdos de él, hasta tal punto que no me importaría releerlo un día de estos.

Los que menos me han gustado (por no decir que no me han gustado nada) han sido:  La libreria de Penélope Fitzgerald, A discovery of witches de Deborah Harkness y Darkest Mercy  de Melissa Marr.  

Caso a parte es Hit List de LK Hamilton.  El libro no vale gran cosa pero no es ninguna sorpresa ya que a partir del décimo libro de la serie de Anita Blake de LK Hamilton los libros no valen mucho.  Siendo Hit List el libro 21 (creo), uno ya no espera mucho y se leen un poco por inercia, por ver de nuevo a los personajes y para ver si hay suerte y vuelven a las historias de los primeros libros de Anita Blake que estaban muy bien.

These are all books I have read during 2011.    Most of them are series so that's why you can find more or less the same authors. 

I have liked most of them but I think my favorite of 2011 is Blue Sword by Robin Mckinley. This book was a surprise. It is a beautiful story and I wouldn't mind re-reading it again. 

Books I didn't like were: The Library by Penélope Fitzgerald, A discovery of witches by Deborah Harkness and Darkest Mercy by Melissa Marr. 

Hit List by LK Hamilton is something else.  Because last ten or eleven books in Anita Blake weren't good I didn't expect anything from this book, but I still read her books in case Anita Blake's first stories come back.  I cannot even remember what was this book about. I know I read it because it is in the list and it is one of the reason I keep a list of books I read.

Este mes no me he complicado mucho con la lectura.  He escogido libros fáciles de leer y muy entretenidos.

Meg Cabot es una de mis autoras favoritas.  Me encanta todo lo que escribe y he leído todo  salvo sus libros infantiles y los que tiene bajo el pseudónimo de Patricia Cabot que son los que ahora voy leyendo cuando puedo y los encuentro.  Lady of Skye me ha gustado mucho.  Es un libro romántico pero a la vez muy divertido y entretenido.

De los libros navideños que tiene Debbie Macomber elegí The Perfect Christmas.  Me ha gustado también.  Es el típico libro navideños y me recuerda un poco a las películas de sobremesa que a veces ponen en la tele.  Un libro sin complicaciones y para pasar un buen rato.

The Bite before Christmas es un libro con dos historias. La primera es de Lyndsay Sands.  Ya sabía por los comentarios en Amazon que esta historia no valía mucho y es verdad.  La seguna historia o novela corta es de Jeaniene Frost de su serie de Bones y Cath.  Me ha encantado.  Muy entretenida, divertida y con mucha acción.

Nothing complicate for December.  All three books are nice and easy reads.  Perfect for this time of year.

Meg Cabot is one of my favorite author.  I've read almost everything she's written (young adult and adult books).  I love the way she writes and the languaje she uses.  While I wait for her next books I have started reading her Patricia Cabot books.  Lady of Skye is a romance but it is also fun to read as all Meg Cabot books. 

The Perfect Christmas by Debbie Macomber is a nice Christmas read.  I wanted to read a Christmas book and since I started reading Debbie Macomber I thought I  try one of her many christmas story.  I did like this one.  It reminds me of some of those tv movies you can see in Christmas.

Last book of this 2011 was The Bite before Christmas.  It contains two stories.  The first one is by Lyndsay Sands.  I had already read on Amazon that it was not one of her best stories and I do agree.  The second short novella in the book is form Jeaniene Frost Cath and Bones series.  I love this novella.  It was so much fun and all you can expect in a Cath and Bones book. If you are a Bones and Cath fan you cannot miss this.

Los libros que he leído durante el mes de Noviembre fueron:

• Last Breath  de Rachel Caine
• 16 Lighthouse Road de Debbie Macomber
• A Noble Radiance de Donna león

Last Breath creo que es el libro número 11 de la saga de vampiros Morganville de Rachel Caine.  Esta es una colección, se supone, para adolescentes y los personajes creo que no pasan casi ninguno de los 30 años, pero aún así es una lectura muy entretenida y muy recomendable.  En 2008 descubrí estos libros y desde entonces no me pierdo ninguno.  Por supuesto algunos me han gustado más que otros pero esto es normal con toda colección de libros.  Aunque este libro no ha sido de los que más me han gustado y ha habido un par de “incidentes” que con los que no estoy de acuerdo, la verdad es que una vez que empecé el libro no fui capaz de dejarlo y lo acabé bastante pronto, y de hecho tengo ya anotado cuando sale el siguiente libro.  El primer libro de esta colección es “Glass House” y creo que ya lo han traducido al español.

16 Lighthouse Road es el primer libro de la saga Cedar Cove de Debbie Macomber y el primero que leo de Debbie Macomber.  Hace ya algún tiempo que tenía ganas de leer uno de ellos por las críticas y recomendaciones que había visto en la web de Amazon.com.  No me ha defraudado y me ha gustado mucho.  Es un libro muy agradable.  Me recuerda un poco a la serie de Las Chicas Gilmore por el ambiento de pueblecito americano y de cómo retrata la vida de sus habitantes. No sé si está traducido al español.

A Noble Radiance es en español “Nobleza Obliga”.  Es el séptimo libro del detective Brunetti de Donna León.  De adolescente leí mucho Sherlock Holmes y siempre me han gustado las historias de detective.  Los libros de Donna León me gustan porque además de ser de detectives se diferencia de otras novelas de este género en que las historias pasan en Venecia en nuestra época actual y retrata muy bien la vida de los italianos .  Ésto me resulta muy curioso e interesante. 

These are the books I’ve read in November.

Last Breath is the 11^th in the Morganville saga by Rachel Caine.  I’ve discovered the first book “Glass House” in 2008 and it is one of my favorite sagas.  Although this saga is intended for young adults and the characters most of them are (or look) under 30 years old, it is really fun to read.  When a saga is this long there are always book you like better than others. This book is not one of my favorite and there were a few things that happened in the book that I didn’t agree with.  But anyway truth is that once I started reading it was hard to put the book down and I am looking forward to reading the next installment.

16 Lighthouse Road by Debbie Macomber is the first one I read of this author.  I have seen lots of good reviews in Amazon and I was looking forward to reading it.  I was not disappointed.  It is really nice to read this kind of stories. 

A Noble Radiance is the seventh book of detective Brunetti by Donna Leon.  I’ve always like detective stories and my favorite has been always Sherlock Holmes.  These novels by Donna Leon are even more interesting as they take place in Venezia and describe very well how Italians are and live.
