Suiza Octubre 2012 (Switzerland)

Sigo con bastante lío y no tengo últimamente mucho tiempo para el blog.  Pero hoy aprovechando que tenía que descargar las fotos de mi última visita a Suiza he decido pasarme por el blog y enseñaros algunas fotos.

Basilea, Suiza (Basel, Switzerland)

Lo mejor fué que nos nevó.  En Málaga no nieva nunca y sólo cuando vamos de viaje tenemos la oportunidad de ver algo de nieve si es que tenemos un poquito de suerte.  Digamos que para nosotros es más exótico que la playa en verano.

Y aquí abajo os dejo mis compras.  Aunque parezca raro son artículos que no encuentro aquí en España así que ha aprovechado el viaje. 

Y por supuesto siempre está bien probar harinas nuevas para mis panes.



Since last month I don't seem to have much time left for the blog .  I have a lot going on in my life at the moment.  Anyway, this past weekend I was in Basel (Switzerland) again.  Today I wanted to store all my photos and videos from my trip and as I have my computer on I have decided to show you some of the pictures.  Most important thing this time is that it snowed.  I know for some of you is something very common in winter but not for me.  Where I live in Spain I don't see any snow at all.  So it is something more exotic for us than going to the beach in Summer.  I have put in this post some of my favorite pictures from this trip. 

What you can see in the last photos is my shopping.  It is difficult for me to find some of this things here where I live.  I also like to try new flours for making bread, it is kind of fun for me.

Harinas

Esta semana por fín he podido acercarme a Alhaurin El Grande, a El Amasadero, a por harinas.  El Amasadero vende sobretodo por internet pero estando en Málaga y muy cerquita me puse hace tiempo en contacto con Andres (que es el propietario) y desde entonces quedo con él cada vez que me voy a pasar por su local a por más harinas. 

¿Por qué ir expresamente a comprar harinas a un pueblo en lugar de ir al super?  Porque aquí encuentro muchas harinas ecológicas y mucha variedad.  He comprado harina de centeno, harina de espelta, harina de repostería, harina de fuerza ecológica, harina panadera, harina de maiz integral, semolina y una de las que más me gustan y típicas de esta zona que es la harina recia.  Hasta que no empecé  con esto del pan no tenía ni idea de la variedad de harinas que hay en el mercado.

 

Creo que al final he comprado unos 18 kilos de harina.  

También he aprovechado para comprar otras cosas. 

Aquí abajo teneis la foto de los dos banetones para 500 gr que me he traido. Los banetones sirven para dejar reposar el pan en una segunda fermentación después de que hayan sido formas.  Es para que no pierdan la forma. Ya tenía dos, uno alargado y otro redondo que eran para masas de 750 gr pero cuando he hecho menos cantidad no tenía donde dejar reposar el pan.  

También me he traído una cuchilla para greñar (hacer los cortes) el pan.  La que tenía ya no cortaba bien.



Hace tiempo que necesitaba una rejilla larga para poner a enfriar magdalenas, bizcochos, galletas y panes.  Hasta la fecha he estado utilizando una rejilla que venía con el microondas pero esta es pequeña.  Así que he aprovechado el viaje y me he traído una rejilla larga.



La rejilla ya la he utilizado este fin de semana y la harina de centeno me va a venir estupendamente bien para refrescar mi masa madre esta semana porque casi no me quedaba ya más harina de centeno. 

This week I went to a village near Malaga called Alhaurin El Grande.  I went there to buy flour in a place called "El Amasadero".  I didn't know there were so many different flours until I started baking my own bread.  This shop sells lots of differents flours and many of them are organic and I can find things for baking and making bread.  This time I bought around 18 kilos of flour.  I bought spelt, rye, corn flour, strong white and wholemeal, flour 00 and some typish flour from Málaga.  I also bought few things more that are the ones in the pictures.

Sábado (18/02/2012)

Ayer mi madre, mi hermana y yo nos fuimos de compras juntas.  Unas cuantas veces al año vamos un sábado a Marbella, por la mañana a un centro comercial y después a comer y a dar un paseo a Puerto Banús.  Ayer fué el día.  Lo pasamos muy bien y aprovechamos mucho.

Comer, comimos de los lindo, en la misma Pizzería de Puerto Banús que la última vez.  Yo creí que nos sobraría comida, pero fué que no.  Una gran ensalada para mí (Cesar), una hamburguesa para mi madre, la pizza para mi hermana y gran parte de la ensalada que aparece en aquí abajo.

 

Y para terminar, dos crepes:  uno relleno de chocolate (el mío) y otro con fresas y nata para mi hermana que lo acompañó con un té.  Y no, no estaban malos...

Y después de la comida, un paseíto por el puerto.  Aunque el día se despejó, hacía frío.  

Y estas son algunas de mis compras.  Harinas y productos ingleses.  Paramos de camino a Marbella en un supermercado inglés (Iceland) quería comprar sobretodo harinas para mis panes.  Tienen mucho surtido y las harinas son muy buenas.  Aproveché para comprar otras productos que son difíciles de encontrar en supermercados españoles como el "buttermilk" o algunas especias.

On Saturday my mother, my sister and me spent a very nice day out.  Last time we went together shopping was in November.  We usually go to Marbella where we visit a shopping center.  After that we drive to Puerto Banus and have lunch there.  This time we did it all over again.  First we went to the Shopping Mall and after that we went to lunch.  Yes, as you can see we were quite hungry.  I had the Cesar salad, my mother the hamburger and my sister the pizza and most of first salad.  And because it is always nice to end with something sweet, we had two nice crepes (mine with chocolate) for dessert.

After our lunch we went for a walk.  It was a bit cold for us but still quite nice.

The last picture are somethings I bought.  We went in the morning to an Iceland, that is an English supermarkt near Málaga.  I like the flours I can find there.  I need them for my baking.  I also bought somethings that I cannot find in Spanish supermarkt such as buttermilk.

Comprando lanas

Hacía tiempo que tenía ganas de ir a por lanas.  Tenía un par de proyectos en marcha pero ninguno que me emocionase mucho.

El sábado por fín fuí al centro de Málaga en busca de lanas, y mi sorpresa fué que encontré mucho colorido y encima de oferta.

Son de la marca Katia.  Las madejas grandes son Katia Fama.  Son sinténticas, 100 gr. y están a 1,75€ la unidad.

Me vine cargada y hoy lunes he ido a por más para mí y para mi hermana.  Hay que aprovechar porque este tipo de colorido y variedad es difícil de ver por aquí.

Estoy superencantada con ellas y el colorido es lo mejor. 

Este fin de semana mismo he empezado dos bufandas para mis sobrinos.  Y no hago más quedarle vueltas a la cabeza a posibles proyectos.

Aproveché también para comprar un par de telas.  Una es para la parte trasera del cojín de punto que hice en otoño y que está pendiente de terminar.  La otra tela, es una blanca de algodón para hacer prácticas con la máquina de coser.







On Saturday I went shopping.   I wanted to buy some yarn because I have two o three proyects on but I wanted to look for something else.  I was surprise because I found lots of different colours and it was on sale as well!!  Yarn is Katia Fama and it is 100 gr, sintetic and costs 1,75€ each.  As you can imagine I went crazy.  I am so happy with this yarn.  I love the colours.  I am already thinking lost of possible proyects with them.  This same weekend I started two scarfs for my niece and nephew.  Today I even went to buy more yarn just in case.

I also bought some fabrics.  One is to finish a cushion using the knitted part I did this last fall, and the other fabric is a white cotton fabric that I will use to practice with my sewing machine.

Más libros de cocina

El viernes recibí el último pedido a Amazon.  Desde que estuve en Londres estaba pendiente de pedir algunas cosas que ví allí y que no compré porque no me cabían en la maleta.  Con las Navidades por medio no me atreví a pedir nada porque temí tener algún problema con el transporte.  Pero ya pasadas la Navidades ... Aquí está el pedido.  Son tres libros de cocina y el dvd de Downton Abbey. 

De momento lo más que me ha dado tiempo es a ojearlos.  Estoy muy contenta con el de Dan Lepard "Short and Sweet".  Lo habían comentado hace algún tiempo en el Foro del Pan y todo el mundo que lo tenía estaba muy contento.  Le eché un vistazo en Londres y lo que vi parecía que podía estar bien.  Como he dicho le he echado una ojeada y he visto que tiene muchas recetas, te habla también un poco de la técnica.  Me gusta también que tiene recetas inglesas como las de los scones o las pies.

El de River Cottage Veg Everyday fue el que más estuve ojeando en Londres.  Lo tenían por todas partes y tenía muy buena pinta.  Siempre me gusta tener recetas nuevas a base de verdura. 

En el Canal Cocina han estado echando los programas de Donna Hay, este es el libro de las recetas que salen en ese programa.  Creo que lo que más me gustan son los postres que salen en este libro.  Las fotos son una gozada verlas. 

También está el video de Downton Abbey.  La serie todavía no la he visto ni siquiera en la tele.  Pero ví un trailer y me encantó la ambientación inglesa de la serie.  En Londres ví este dvd que contiene las dos temporadas de esta serie.  El dvd vale lo mismo que aquí la primera temporada.  Lo que más me gusta de ver las series en dvd es que no hay que estar pendientes de los horarios y uno la puede ver cuando quiera.



Ahora lo que me hace falta es algo de tiempo para poder disfrutarlos.

At the beginning of last week I ordered some things to Amazon.co.uk.  They arrived on Friday.  As you can see there are mostly books.  I saw them when I visited London but I didn't buy them there because I didn't have enough space inside my luggage and because usually in Amazon you can find them cheapper and I don't have to pay for delivery.

I haven't have enough time to see them properly.  I am very happy with Dan Lepard's baking book.  There are lots of recipes for baking both sweet and salty things.  I do like as well that I can find there some English recipes. 

In tv in a channel called "Canal Cocina" (it is a cooking channel) I have been watching Donna Hay programm and I love it.  Specially the sweet things she cook.  This is the book with all recipes from that program.  I love the photos in her books.

I haven't seen Downton Abbey but my mother loves it.  I have seen the tv advertisement and I think it is my kind of tv series.  So when I saw in London this dvd with both seasons I took note and I ordered it.  In Spain you can only find season one and it costs the same as both seasons in Amazon.  The best part about watching a series on dvd is that you can watch them whenever you like. 

Now what I need is time.
