SAL Tralala Mode (1ª Parte)

I  finished this Tralala Cross-stitch this afternoon.  It is the first part of the SAL Mode Tralalá that I am doing with Club Tralala Love.

These are the two tin-loaves I have baked this week and the last.  I just don't have enough time to bake bread properly so what I am doing now is to mix the ingredients (sourdough, 500 gr of flour, 350 gr. water and 10 gr salt) and let the dough rise in the oven-tin for hours, last week overnight and this week a from morning until evening) and after that I just bake them.  I think this works because the breads are made with sourdough. I don't think it can work well with yeast.  The loaves I get are not so pretty but they are as delicious as the others.

I forgot to say that for this two loaves I put rye flour and some five-cereal flour I bought last time in Switzerland, that is why they are not so white.

The only book I was able to finish in November was Bitter Club by Rachel Caine.  I usually read at night before going to sleep but lately I am so tired that I can only read a couple of pages.

Bitter Club is from the Morganville Vampires series.  I cannot remember if it is book twelve or thirteen.  It was OK and I didn't have any trouble reading it as I had with the previous two books.  Basically I think that at this point I didn't expect much (because I didn't like the last two books of the series) and I don't have any love for the main characters so I just don't mind what happens to them.  Anyway the story was good and I enjoyed it.  I will probably read the next book of this series.

Premio Liebster Blog

In March Ana from http://nacarconcolor.blogspot.com/  gave me The liebster blog award.  I thanked her but because I still don't know much about blogging, I didn't know what to do with it.  After looking in internet about this things I found what it is and what to do with it.

First of all, this is an award to blogs with less than 200 Followers.  Then once you've been given this award you  must do 3 things:

  1. First of all, thanks the person who gave you the award
  2. Then you copy and paste the image in your blog, so people know you've been given this award.
  3. And last thing and most important is to choose five blogs with less than 200 followers to give the awards.  You've also need to write a comment in those blogs so they know about it.

This crochet project is a donation.  I was asked to do something to give to a house were old people lived.  It is like a Christmas present.  I started it in September thinking I was going to have enough time but since October it has been really difficult to do some crochet. Last week is the day I have to give it.  I am now doing the outside of the shawl and I think I will be able to finish it today.

These is what I have been baking this past two weeks.  Sourdough loaves, some rolls and some muffins.

This is Tralalá cross-stitch SAL from "Bordando Juntos" forum.  I have just finished it this morning. I am sorry about the photo but today it's been a bit dark around here.

These are all loaves I've baked this past two weeks.  I am not eating more bread I am just baking more for my parents and sister, so they don't have to buy bread.  A couple of weeks back I was told to buy some bread for them and I cannot understand some of the "ingredients" some breads have.  So I have decided to make a bit more and they can freeze some for the week.

Libros leídos este mes: Oct, 2012

  • "Three for the dough" de Janet Evanovich

This three are the books I have read in October.  My favorite was "Rapture" by J.R. Ward. I think is the fourth book in the Fallen Angels series.  I couldn't put the book down. Lot of action and romance as always.  I really enjoyed reading every bit of it.  Worst part is having to wait a whole year for next book.

I continued reading Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series.  This month I read the third book "Three for the dough" which as always was really fun to read.

In Málaga Airport I bought Daniel Glattauer "Contra el viento del norte".  I had nothing to read on my way to Switzerland to see my brother and I saw this book and I had read some good reviews about it and decided to give it a chance.  Sorry because I don't know if it is translated into English.  I think the author is German.  This book is a fast read.  A man (Leo) and a women (Emmi) meet through e-mail and the book is the collection of those e-mails between the two of them.  I didn't find the book the best of the best but it was a nice read and I must say that I have recently started the continuation of this book "Cada siete olas".

This is what I have been working this last October.  There are part of two SALs (Stitch a long)  from two different cross-stitch forum:  Bordando Juntos and Milpuntadas.

I am really busy nowdays and most of the time I bake bread but then I forget to take pictures of them.  Well this is what I have baked for this weekend.  Last picture is an apple pie.

Halloween (Oct 2012)

This picture is from my last trip to Basel (Switzerland).  Happy Halloween.

I know, just a bit late.  The other day I forgot to press the "publish" botton of the blog.

Suiza Octubre 2012 (Switzerland)

Basilea, Suiza (Basel, Switzerland)

Since last month I don't seem to have much time left for the blog .  I have a lot going on in my life at the moment.  Anyway, this past weekend I was in Basel (Switzerland) again.  Today I wanted to store all my photos and videos from my trip and as I have my computer on I have decided to show you some of the pictures.  Most important thing this time is that it snowed.  I know for some of you is something very common in winter but not for me.  Where I live in Spain I don't see any snow at all.  So it is something more exotic for us than going to the beach in Summer.  I have put in this post some of my favorite pictures from this trip.

What you can see in the last photos is my shopping.  It is difficult for me to find some of this things here where I live.  I also like to try new flours for making bread, it is kind of fun for me.

Al final he hecho bizcocho.

Last week I got a juice blender as a present.  This week I have been trying it and the other day I had some carrot juice.  When I saw what was left in the blender (the carrots were cleaned and peeled) I knew for sure that this weekend I was going to make some muffins or some cake with them.  In the end I baked carrot cake.

Looking in internet as always I came across a carrot cake recipe with almond flour.  I decided to make the recipe I had at home (I think is from Lucy's blogg Attic24) and change part of the flour for almond flour.  The result is that this is my favorite carrot cake so far.

The ingredients were:

  • 2 eggs
  • 150 gr. sugar
  • 150 gr. olive oil (not strong)
  • 150 gr. shredded carrots
  • some cinammon, dried ginger and nutmeg
  • some lemon zest
  • 100 gr. almond flour
  • 125 gr. flour
  • and two teaspoon of baking powder
  • a bit of milk or buttermilk

I put a bit of buttemilk (I didn't have any milk left) because I saw at first the dough was a bit thick.  Just add milk or buttermilk until you see it has the look of a dough cake.

Oven at 180º for about 45-50 minutes, this as always depends on the tin used and on the oven.  It is better to check.

I am sorry the last picture didn't come out better.  The cake is really light and nice.

These are the loaves and rolls that I baked last week and this week.

First picture is what I have baked this last week.  A sourdough loaf in a tin and some rolls or "molletes".

I am really happy with the big sourdough loaf.  It was really easy to make and delicious.  I baked the same bread last weekend and I was quite happy with the result (the photos from last weekend are the last ones).

For the sourdough loaf I put 600 gr flour (250 gr. rye flour, 150 brown bread flour and 200 white strong flour), 400 gr water (I put 360 gr water first but I had to add more), 10 gr salt, different seeds and about two spoon of rye sourdough.  I just mixed everything well (no knead), covered it with plastic foil, and let it in the kitchen for the whole night (about 10 hours or so).  Next morning I shaped it a bit and put the dough in a tin.  I always used oven paper for the tin.  I covered it again and let it for two hours or so, more or less until I saw it has risen a lot.  Oven at 220ºC.  I put the tin inside and let it there with only the botton heat of the oven for about 15 minutes.  Then I put the oven at 200º with the top and bottom heat for another 35 minutes.  After 25 minutes I saw the bread was already brown so I put some oven paper on top of it.
