Looking in Pinterest I found an image of a little christmas sock.  I have been wanted to try to do a sock in crochet or knitting for quite a while now. I jumped to the blog "Le Monde de Sucrette" and found the instructions to make a small sock like this.  "Little Christmas socks: the pattern" is the name of entry in the blog.  The instructions are very easy to follow  as she has divided the socks into parts and it was also quite fun to make one of them. As you can see it is really small but it is ok to give it a go as it requires just a bit of yarn.  I have to try again I make one or two more.

Last weekend looking in Pinterest I saw a few things that I wanted to try.  This was one of them.  It is a cowl and I found it in "Crochet in Color" blog.  It is the "Effortless Cowl".  It is really easy to make and it is the first one I do in crochet.  Here in Málaga it is really difficult to find a big yarn.  The yarns I had at home (bought a while back) are named Alaska and are from Katia.  I don't think it is the right choice for a cowl because it is not soft but it was what I had at hand.  I made it a bit longer that I wanted to but nevermind I will have three rounds (I don't know if you say that) instead of two.  I won't be cold for sure.  Best thing however was to have fun as it is really easy and be abled to finished it in two days.  Love to see something finished from time to time.

Retomando proyectos.

Todavía me quedan unos cuantos cuadritos.

This past year I have been too tired in the afternoons (when I did have them) and in the evenings to do much of anything.  So I haven't done much of crochet or knitting as you already have seen in my blog.  With the change of my working hours I have to say that it is not that I have more time it is just that in the mornings I am not that tired and I can do a bit more than before.  So that and the fact that it is not hot anymore here in Málaga (it is horrible to touch yarn with all the heat of summer) I have started picking projects that I have alreday started last year or the year before or even before that.  These are the ones I started working again: two granny squares blankets, the beige or white crochet blanket and a cushion cover that I started knitting. I have also been playing with another idea for another granny blanket but that will probably have to wait.  Hope I can keep up and finish at least one of them.

Septiembre, 2014 (2ª parte)

I never talk about my work here in the blog. I don't think is the place.  But I have to say that just  after I arrived from Madrid, the company where I work make me a proposition that included not only a change in my position but also a change of the hours I was going to work. Now instead of working mornings (until 3) I was going to work afternoons and evenings.  It was a proposition but it is the type that you cannot say "no" just like that.  So I said to them that I was going to try it. Because I am not going to lie it is a very big change in my life but I have to try it to say if it is ok or not.  I know everything has its advantages and disadvantages, for now I have dedided to give a go to the advantages. And for now it is working.  First week after going to the gym (another improvement, less people in the morning) I went to the beach. Almost like if I was on holiday.  Very few people, hot enough to sunbathe and even swim a bit, and the water very clear.  Then other mornings instead of going to the gym I have kept walking and go near the sea.  That has been wonderful as well and not only in sunny days that are the best but also in cloudy days. And why not stop afterwards to have breakfats in one of those places like if I was on holiday. That has been really good too, to be able to have a luxury breakfast with my e-book with a view to the beach and the sea.

As I have already said I don't know if I will get used to my new work hours but right now I am going to enjoy them : )

Septiembre, 2014 (1ª Parte)

I know we are not in September anymore.  Yesterday my sister reminded me that my blog was not going anywhere since August.  And I knew.  The problem is always the same one.  I just don't seem to have enough time for the blog or for hobbies.  But I have also to say that September was really a busy month.  At the beginning of the month I decided that it was time to have my house painted.  Someone came in the afternoons (because I couldn't take any holidays and had to work in the mornings) and painted and in the meantime I had to move everything from one room to the next and after he was gone I had to start cleaning and organizing a bit.  Well thanks got it is over. Because it was a lot of work for one week.

After that we went to Madrid.  One of my cousins was getting married and it was fantastic because we got to see uncles, aunts and cousins that we don't see often.  It is a wonderful excuse to get together.  We also had one day to visit Madrid.  Not much because Madrid is a really big city but enough to know that I want to go back soon. It is being many years since the last time I visited Madrid and it is a really nice city.  I love the Plaza Mayor and all around it.  It feels like the old Madrid.  We also visited the new Archeological Museum and we loved it.  It is really interesting.  I would have like to go to El Retiro (big park in the center of Madrid) for a walk but unfortunately we didn't have time.  Maybe next time...

This is a cover that I have made for my new tablet. This week I've bought myself a tablet.  It is the first one I have.  This year I have not as much time as I used to have and it takes forever to take my laptop out of its bag and wait until it is on and then conected to internet. Well the thing is that when I bought it I was going to buy a cover as well but they didn't have the one for this model. So while I wait I thought I could made one. Sorry I cannot remember how is called this type of yarn in English. I did it in a couple of hours and the only thing that I have sewn were the buttons. I love the colour and I am quite happy with it.

This is a botanical garden we have in Málaga. It's name is La Concepción. A couple of weekends ago I went with my sister and my father.  It was free that day.  We thought that being summer and with most of the people going to the beach (it was on a Sunday) there wasn't going to be that many people there.  We were wrong there was lots of people.  This was the first time I visited this garden and I will go back for sure.  My father and my sister had visited it before and they were my guides there.  As you can see looking at the pictures it is very impressive.  Sometimes it feels like you are not in Spain anymore and you are in a very exotic place.  Big palm trees, very tall bamboos, waterfalls, exotic flowers... it is really something.
