El Santo de mi hermana

Si la semana anterior fué el santo de mi madre y mío, la semana pasada fué el santo de mi hermana. 

Entre las labores de punto de cruz y el regalo de mi madre no había tenido tiempo de hacer nada de nada para mi hermana.  El fin de semana pasado encontré en una bolsa dos madejas que habían quedado del regalo de mi madre del Día de la Mádre en Mayo.  Recordé que mi hermana me había pedido una bufandita del estilo del chal que había hecho a mi madre para aquella ocasión.  La duda que tenía es si me daría tiempo a tener la bufandita lista para su santo. 

Busqué un patrón facilito y sencillo y que le fuera bién a las madejas que tenía.  El resultado ha sido este:

El patrón que he seguido me ha encantado.  La madeja ha sido un poco incómoda de trabajar ya que se abre mucho.  Pero la verdad es que tiene un brillo muy bonito y ha quedado muy bien.

Por cierto que el patrón me ha gustado tanto que ya he pensado en que para una colcha sería ideal.

La tarde anterior pude incluso hacer unos remates en los extremos de la bufandita.  Una remate sencillo que creo que le queda simpático

Y aquí abajo está la percha (mi hermana) con su regalo para que veais que bién queda.

Y como no puede haber celebración sin postre casero, aquí la tarta que preparé para la ocasión:  bizcocho sencillo de huevos, mantequilla, azúcar y harina, relleno de mermelada de fresa casera y nata montada, y cubierto por chocolate negro (70% cacao) y nata.

Nada de decoración para el pastel porque además de que tuvo que pasar un día entero en el frigo (porque mi agenda es así de apretada) siempre temo al momento transporte de una casa a otra y con los calores que está haciendo.   Pero bueno, la tarta llegó sana y salva y estaba riquísima.  Se me olvida siempre sacar una foto del corte de la tarta para que veais que bien queda.

Aprovechando que tuve que derretir chocolate, preparé helado en la heladera que compré a princpios de este verano para tener helado de chocolate este fin de semana.

Ayer cuando llegué por la tarde fué el momento idóneo para meterle mano.  Estaba bién bueno.  No lleva yemas de huevo sólo nata para montar, leche, chocolate y azúcar. 

Last week was the Saint of the name of my sister.  I don't know how to explain this better. In Spain, as I told you last week, we celebrate the day of the Saint of our name.  It is almost like a birthday but you are not a day older. 

I haven't had time enough to think for a present for my sister.  I had done a lot of cross-stitch and some crochet for my mother's present I hadn't had time for anything else.  But last weekend I found two yarns from the crochet shawl I did for my mother in May.  I remembered that my sister wanted a scarf with the same yarn.  So, because I had not much time left I decided to look for a nice and simple pattern and I found the one you can see in the pictures.  I am quite happy with the result.  It looks very pretty.  My sister is the one in the picture, she didnt' expect the scarf and therefore she was very happy with it.

Apart from the scarf my sister asked me to make a cake for her day.  I made a very easy cake.  Lately I alwasy baked the same sponge cake (eggs, sugar, butter and flour) and then I put inside some nice homemade strawberry jam and some whipped cream, and covered the cake with chocolate (70% cacao) melted with some double cream.  We loved this cake.  Best thing is that I can bake the cake one day, next day I can put the filling and cover it with the chocolate and have it in the fridge until the following day.  This is Ok with me because I just have many things going on lately that I don't have much time left for other things. 

I was lucky and the cake arrived safely to my mom's home.  I am always quite nervous transporting the cake from my place to their's. 

I must remember next time to take some pictures of the cut of the cake so you can see it.  I forget this always.... ; )

Because I had to melt the chocolate I took the oportunity to melt a bit more and on Friday I did some chocolate ice-cream.  This one is very easy to make, just double cream, milk, chocolate, sugar and the ice-cream maker.  Yesterday we tried it and was really good as well.
