La comida de este fin de semana (04/02/2012)

Este fin de semana no he hecho mucho.  Sofa, lectura y ver tele.

This weekend I haven't done much in the kitchen as well.  I've been more or less improvising with what was in the fridge and in the pantry that wasn't much, considering I haven't done any shopping at all.

First picture are "migas" a very typical Spanish dish.  It is what is called, "bread crumbs".  I haven't cooked them, my mother did.  She gave me a tupper on Friday when I was eating at her house.  It is basically old bread (dried bread), that you have to put in water first to undo it in "crumbs", then you take as much water as you can from the crumbs, and the last thing you do is fried them with garlic, pork meat and chorizo.  We usually have them with a fried egg.  It is the kind of dish for cold days like this Saturday.

The only thing I baked is an apple pie.  I tried the pastry recipe a few weeks ago and I did like the result and it is so easy to make.  Only 150 gr flour, 75 gr butter, two spoon of sugar and a bit of water to make the dough.   I filled mine with two apple, raisins, brown sugar and a bit of lemon juice. One hour in the oven at 150ºC and it was quite nice.  The pastry on the top and botton was well done by then.  It is not very brown (the pastry) because I didn't use egg to "paint" it (I didn't want to waste a whole egg for that), just a bit of milk.  In winter you can have it with custard and in summer with ice cream.

I like this pie a lot.  It is not so sweet and being filled with apple it is not so unhealthy as others.
